Obituary

JAMES J. PROBST

James J. Probst, devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home, September 1, 2021, with his family by his side.

He was born November 25, 1937, in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, to the late James and Helen (Poorman) Probst.  He was also preceded in death by his son, Ryan Allen Probst.

Proudly, James served his country in the US Marine Corps, with honor, courage, and commitment.  He enjoyed his working career as an Air Traffic Controller, working in Pittsburg, PA, Washington, D.C., Dayton, OH, Saginaw, MI, and with the Akron-Canton Airport.  Enjoying many things throughout his life, traveling was one of them and especially his trips to Hawaii, Alaska, Disney World, and Florida.  More than anything, James’ time spent with family and friends, was time well spent. James was an active member and faithful Christian at Marlboro Church of Christ. He had a love of animals, especially the “time share” dog, Bo, who spent time going between himself and Kaelin.

James’ memory will live on in the hearts of those who survive; his wife of 63 years, Shirley Probst; daughters, Sharon (Glenn) Kotnik, Susan (Terry) Troyer, and Kaelin Probst (Duane Hunsicker); son, James (Shari) Probst; grandchildren, Kelsey, Haley, Jason, Josh, and Jeremy; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Honoring James’ wishes, a Memorial Service will be held at a later date at Marlboro Church of Christ. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
