Betty Jean (Willingham) Weichl

June 7, 1928 ~ June 28, 2021 (age 93)



Betty Jean Weichl, 93, of Hartville, Ohio, passed away to Heaven, June 28, 2021, with family by her side.  Born June 7, 1928 in Akron, Ohio, she was the daughter of Isaac and Gladys (Inman) Willingham.

Preceding Betty in death was her husband, William E. Weichl and sister, Mary Ann Farrar.

A blessing to the many lives she touched, Betty was teacher at Springfield High School, not only educating her students, but helping them grow in their lives outside of school and beyond.  A loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, her devotion for her family was priceless.  She was a longtime resident of Akron and the Villages in Florida.

Cherishing Betty’s memory are those who survive; son, Lt. Colonel, William Scott (Peggy) Weichl of South Carolina; daughter, Cynthia (Robert) Cumberledge of Uniontown; grandchildren, Andrew and Matthew Weichl, Joshua (Hope) Weichl, Heather (Patrick) Crotty, Hannah (Jon) Baldridge; great-grandchildren, Savannah, Audrey, and Devyn Weichl, Alana and Ava Crotty, Isaiah and Graham Baldridge.

Betty’s family will receive guests, Monday, July 12, 2021 from 10:30 am to 11:00 am, followed by a Memorial Service, celebrating Betty’s life at Lakemore United Methodist Church, where she was a member and organist, 1536 Flickinger Road, Akron, Ohio 44312.  Pastor Jeff Gindlesberger will officiate.  Betty will be interred with her husband, William, at Ohio Western Reserve Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio, Tuesday, July 13, 2021.

In remembrance of Betty’s life, the family asks that donations be made to the American Heart Association, National Center, 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75231 or to the Veterans Wounded Warriors Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32256.
