Paul D. Archer 79, of Akron, Ohio, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2026, lovingly surrounded his family. Born on October 22, 1946, in Ravenna, Ohio, to the late Herbert and Jean (Gumbert) Archer, he lived a life defined by service and hard work.
A proud U.S. Army veteran, Paul served his country with honor and carried that same sense of duty into every chapter of his life. After completing his military service and working for BF Goodrich for 17 years, he built a long and respected career as a self‑employed contractor, specializing in home remodeling. He took great pride in creating spaces where others could build their own memories. A gifted woodworker, trained by Bart Dean, he used his skills, inspiring many.
He lived a life of enduring faith that guided him through every season of his life, and those who knew him will remember his smile - warm, genuine, and often the first thing he offered when greeting someone. Paul faithfully served Trinity Church of the Nazarene as a youth leader, board member, Sunday school teacher, and head of maintenance and was exceptionally committed to each of these areas for years. He and Carol were presented with the Distinguished Service Award for demonstrating outstanding service to the Church of the Nazarene. A true servant to the Kingdom of God, Paul impacted countless lives with his decades of unwavering faith, while serving the local church for decades. “Well done good and faithful servant.”
Family was always at the center of his world, and he was happiest when surrounded by those he loved.
Paul is survived by his wife and best friend of 55 years, Carol. Together they built a family rooted in love. He is also survived by his daughter, Leah (Jeffrey) Sumey; son, Matthew (Amanda) Archer; grandchildren, Jeffrey Jr., Elijah, Emerson, Levi, and Paul; sister, Mary Lou (Bill) Daniels; and brother, John (Donna) Archer. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Ann Archer.
Friends and family are invited for visitation on Monday, March 2, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Hecker-Patron Funeral Home, 13151 Cleveland Avenue, NW, Uniontown, where the service will follow at 1:00 PM. Pastor Harold Bradley will officiate. Interment will take place at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens, North Canton.
As recent attendees to Springfield Baptist Church, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Springfield Baptist Church or Haven of Rest.
