Mary Irene Polites
Mary Irene Polites, 95, went to be with the Lord on August 2, 2017. Born in Bakerton, Pa. on July 17, 1922 to Nicholas and Mary Krynick, she was an area resident most of her life. Mary, a devoted wife and mother, worked as an executive secretary, retiring from the University of Akron with 12 years of service. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Akron.
Preceded in death by Joseph, her husband of 66 years and son-in-law Lowell Cannon; she is survived by loving daughter, Nikki Cannon and many other cherished relatives and friends.
Visitation Wednesday 5 to 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Akron, where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Allan Bevere officiating.
