JOYCE E. WALKER

Joyce E. Walker, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 4, 2019, after a long valiant battle, surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 7, 1937 in Akron, daughter of the late Amos and Viola Orndorff.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Marvin, Wayne, and Dwight Orndorff; sister, Maxine Eggers; and stepson, John Walker.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband of nearly 22 years, John T. Walker; daughter, Cheryl (Don) Glaze; sons, Douglas (Heidi) Hohlbaugh, Darrell (Lisa) Hohlbaugh, Dale (Pam) Hohlbaugh; stepdaughters, Kathy (Jerry) Allen and Cindy (Gary) Bowser; stepdaughter-in-law, Eva Walker; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sister, Wanda Colling; brother, Paul Orndorff; along with many nieces and nephews.

Joyce was a graduate of Garfield High School and had worked much of her adult life as an office secretary in several positions and also at her home church, Akron Springfield Assembly of God, as their office secretary.  A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she had a way of making each one feel like “the favorite”.  She had truly lovely hands, perfect for playing the piano, which she so loved to do; as well as  perfect for manicures,which she also loved.  She had a servant’s heart and the most welcoming spirit.  She and John were always gracious hosts to all who visited, no matter where they lived.  They also enjoyed traveling and spending their winters in Florida.

Family and friends are welcome to visit, Friday, February 8th from 11 am, until the time of the service, which will begin at 1 pm, Hecker-Patron Funeral Home, 13151 Cleveland Avenue, NW, Uniontown, Ohio.  Pastor David Hohlbaugh officiating.  Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Park, Akron, Ohio.
