JOSEPHINE IRENE BURKETT

Quietly in the early morning of August 12, 2021, Josephine Irene Burkett was called home.  She was born in Akron, Ohio on March 21, 1923, to the late Amos and Agnes (Grabel) Doutt, Sr.

In addition to her parents, Josephine was also predeceased by her husband, Earl C. Burkett, Sr. in 2008; brothers, Jack, Clyde, Donald, Robert, and Amos Doutt; and sisters, Mary Doutt Howe, Dorothy Doutt Woods, and Shirley Doutt Eckelberry.

Josephine dedicated her life to nurturing her family.  She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, asking for so little, but giving so much.  She loved cooking holiday dinners, hosting family celebrations, was known as a neighbor and friend, and adored by her grandchildren.

Greatly loved and sadly missed, Josephine is survived by her sons, Earl (Karen) Burkett, Jr. of Georgia, Daniel (Carol) Burkett of Akron; grandchildren, Diana Olesh, Nancy Burkett, Matthew Burkett; great-grandchildren, Livia and Lucas Olesh, Alexis Rimui, Awen and Asher Burkett.

Josephine’s wishes will be honored with family and friends gathering for visitation Tuesday, August 17, 2021 from 10:00 to 11:00 am, followed by the service, Hecker-Patron Funeral Home, 13151 Cleveland Avenue, NW, Uniontown.  Pastor John Knepper will officiate.  Interment will take place at Hillside Memorial Park, Akron.
