Joe E. Conley, age 93, passed away peacefully at his home while enjoying one of his greatest lifelong joys — bird watching. Born on August 10, 1932, in Charleston, West Virginia, Joe lived a life marked by devotion to family, quiet strength, and simple pleasures that brought him deep contentment.
A proud United States Air Force veteran, Joe carried with him the discipline, honor, and humility that service instills. Yet above all accomplishments, family was everything to him. His children, grandchildren, and great‑grandchildren were the heart of his world, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Dorothy Pearl Conley; brother, Jim Conley; and his beloved wife, Janice of 69 years, who passed away in April of this year. Their bond was steadfast, and their reunion in eternity brings comfort to those who loved them.
He is survived by his daughters: Judy (Earl) Forgham, Janet Paxton (Tammy Wilkes), and Julie (Matt) Kocher. Joe was the proud grandfather of: Michael (Alicia), Melissa (Leif), Taylor (Roger), Katie (David), Meghan, and Troy; great‑grandchildren who brought him endless joy: Lucas, Weston, Layla, Carson, Wyatt, and Madilyn; and nephews, Ed and Dave Conley.
In keeping with Joe’s wishes, there will be no visitation. As in life, Joe preferred simplicity and togetherness. A Celebration of Life for both Joe and Janice will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2026, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at the Conley residence, where family and friends may gather to share memories and honor the love Joe and Janice shared, a love that shaped every part of their lives, their family, and touched everyone who knew them
Hecker-Patron was entrusted with Joe’s care. Condolences may be shared at www.heckerpatronfuneralhome.com as we honor not only their lives, but the beautiful bond they carried — a love now whole again in eternity
