February 13, 1941 — November 21, 2021

GLENN ALLEN MARPLE

Glenn Allen Marple, 80, of Uniontown, OH, died Sunday, November 21, 2021, from complications stemming from Covid and Pneumonia, at Akron City Hospital in Akron, OH.

He was born February 13, 1941, the only son of Guy W. Marple and Bessie Fields Marple Lesher.  He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sharon Cay James Marple; brother-in-law, Charles Pettit and sister, Dianna Lynn Lesher Carpenter (Dennis) all of Spencer, WV; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Judith Ann Marple Pettit.

Glenn graduated from Spencer High School in 1958.  He was a proud member of the Spencer Junior Fire Department while in high school.  After high school, he enlisted in the Air Force and served 4 years in Europe during the early 1960’s.  When returning to West Virginia after his service, he worked for a short time in building construction in the Kanawha County, WV area and then found his way to Ohio, to work for the Chrysler Corporation, until his retirement.

One of his favorite things was the monthly breakfast with his retired co-workers from Chrysler.  They met the last Thursday of the month in Kent for breakfast for years. According to Cay’s niece, Kelie, another of his most favorite times included being involved with Cay’s niece and nephew, Cindy and Ken, Jr. and Cindy’s daughters, Krystin and Kelie.  The four of them were his favorites.

Glenn was an avid car enthusiast.  Cay’s niece Kelie stated, “He was a master of patience with his cars. When rebuilding, it didn’t matter how long it took. He always took the time to make sure it was done right, the first time.  He was never afraid of a challenge.”

Kelie also noted of her Aunt Cay, “She was his one and only. He lived for her, took care of her and stuck by her side, through all of the ups and downs, his love never faltered.”

He will be missed by family and friends.
