"Together Again"

Evelyn R. Hughes, 96, passed away quietly December 31, 2020.

Born December 2, 1924 in Breezewood, Pennsylvania, to Simon and Nina Mae Lockard Taylor.  She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother.  After many years of service and hard work, she retired from Logan Metal Stamping.  After her retirement, she spent time with her family and enjoyed her favorite hobby; gardening.   She received many compliments on her flowers from family and strangers alike.  She also enjoyed reading her hometown church newsletter she received in the mail from Breezewood.  Her grandchildren loved to listen to her tell stories about her growing up in Pennsylvania, working in Washington DC, and getting to meet President Truman.

Preceded in death by her loving daughter, Nina Shaffer; husband, James H. Hughes, brother, Ray “Pete” Taylor, uncle, Ray Taylor.  Her loving family survives Evelyn: son, Jim Hughes, grandchildren, Steve (Amanda) and Wendy Shaffer (Kyle Lett); Lisa (Dragi) Kimevski and Laura Morrison; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Judy Taylor Ross and Francis Taylor; brother, John Taylor; and many other dear relatives and friends.

Due to the concerns with the Coronavirus, private family visitation and services for Evelyn will take place.  Interment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Akron.

Hecker-Patron Funeral Home was privileged in assisting the Hughes family and was entrusted with Evelyn’s care.
