Donald C. Hensley
Donald C. Hensley, beloved husband and father, went home to be with the Lord on February 10, 2018. He died at the age of 72 after a long hard fought battle with illness. He was born in Akron on March 5, 1945 to Curtis C. and Evelyn G. Hensley. After graduating from East High School in 1963, he immediately enlisted in the Army for three years. As a proud member of the 101st Airborne Division, he served in Vietnam from 1965 to 1966, and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in combat. After discharge from the military, he worked three years for the Summit County Sheriff's Office; twenty-five years for the Mogadore Police Department, retiring as Captain in 1996; and then worked twelve years for the Uniontown Police Department, retiring as Chief in 2008. Donald was a humble man who lived out his faith daily in service to his family and others. He will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Kathy (Miracle); daughters Kelly (Billy) Schiele and Tracey (Kyle) Kuta; grandchildren, Lillian, Josiah, Emmalynne, Addalyn, Nathanael, and Jesse Schiele and Noelle and Holden Kuta; sister, Donna (Jerry) Harris; and many other cherished friends and relatives.
Friends may call at Hecker Funeral Home in Uniontown on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. and at the Uniontown United Methodist church on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. where funeral services will immediately follow at 11 a.m. with Reverend Scott Carr officiating. Interment at Manchester Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Samaritan's Purse or a local animal shelter. Hecker 330-699-2600.
